言葉ことばは時代じだいとともに変かわる

Language is by no means fixed; it keeps changing shape in response to changes in society.

For example, it is not unusual for an expression born among young people to eventually be used by all generations.

Some lament such changes as "the corruption of language", but could we not say that the birth of new expressions is proof that language is still alive?

What matters, perhaps, is not to reject change one-sidedly, but to develop the ability to choose our words according to the listener and the situation.
