でんしゃかた

Taking the train

にほんでんしゃときは、まずけんばいききっぷいます。さきまでのりょうきんは、きかいうえにあるちず調しらべることができます。

When you take a train in Japan, you first buy a ticket at the ticket machine. You can check the fare to your destination on the map above the machine.

ICカードをっていれば、まいかいきっぷわなくてもいいので便べんりです。かいさつでカードをかるてるだけでとおれます。

If you have an IC card, you don't have to buy a ticket every time, which is convenient. At the ticket gate you just touch the card lightly and walk through.

でんしゃにはふつうきゅうこうなど、いろいろなしゅるいがあります。きゅうこうちいさいえきまらないので、まえたしかめておきましょう。

There are several kinds of trains, such as local and express. Express trains don't stop at small stations, so check before you get on.

とちゅうえるときは、ホームのばんごうをよくてください。いそいでいて、はんたいほうこうでんしゃってしまうひとおおいです。

When you change trains along the way, look carefully at the platform number. Many people are in a hurry and end up boarding a train going the opposite way.

あさでんしゃはとてもみます。じかんよゆうっていえておくとあんしんです。

Morning trains are very crowded. It is reassuring to leave home with some time to spare.
