The four seasons and cherry blossoms

Japan has four seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter - and each season offers different scenery to enjoy.

Cherry blossoms in spring are especially popular. From the end of March into April, many people gather in parks and chat while eating under the blossoms. This is called "hanami".

Cherry blossoms fall about a week after they bloom. Because they can only be seen for a short time, the Japanese have long thought of them as a special flower.

Recently, more and more tourists come from abroad to see the cherry blossoms.
